This is a guide on how to level your Alchemy profession from 1 to 450 quickly. At each level, it outlines which potions you will be able to make, and which materials you will need. Alchemy is the making of potions, elixirs and transmutations. The items you make as an Alchemist are beneficial both to other players and yourself. It is best paired with Herbalism - if you choose to pair it with something else, you will need to have a lot of gold handy in order to buy the herbs you will need. Another alternative is to have another character that is a Herbalist supply your Alchemist with the necessary herbs. All prices in this guide are approximate, they may differ slightly depending on where you buy recipes and your server.

Alchemists can choose to specialise their profession at level 300, into Transmutation, Potions or Elixirs.

Levels 1 - 60

To begin your career as an Alchemist, you will need to visit a Alchemy trainer in one of the major cities of Azeroth and become an Apprentice. This will cost 8 copper. You will automatically learn the recipe for Minor Healing Potion. Empty Vials can be purchased from any Alchemy Supplies vendor for 17 copper each. On your way to 60, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

15: Weak Troll's Blood Elixir, 42 copper
25: Minor Mana Potion, 85 copper
40: Minor Rejuvenation Potion, 1 silver 28 copper
50: Elixir of Minor Fortitude, 2 silver 12 copper, Mixology, 8 silver 50 copper
55: Lesser Healing Potion, 8 silver 50 copper

Create 60 Minor Healing Potions, and save them for the next level (requires 60 Peacebloom, 60 Silverleaf and 60 Empty Vials ).

Total Minimum Cost: 31 silver 95 copper

Levels 60 - 110

Visit another Alchemy trainer and become a Journeyman. This will cost 4 silver and 25 copper. On your way to 110, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

80: Blackmouth Oil, 2 silver 12 copper
90: Elixir of Water Breathing, 3 silver 82 copper, Elixir of Wisdom, 4 silver 25 copper
100: Swim Speed Potion, 8 silver 50 copper

Create 60 Lesser Healing Potions (requires 60 Briarthorn and 60 Minor Healing Potions).

Total Minimum Cost: 22 silver 94 copper

Levels 110 - 140

At 110, return to your trainer and purchase the Healing Potion recipe for 34 silver. Leaded Vials can be purchased from any Alchemy Supplies vendor for 1 silver 60 copper each. On your way to 140, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

120: Lesser Mana Potion, 12 silver 75 copper
125: Strong Troll's Blood Elixir, 12 silver 75 copper
130: Elixir of Defense, 17 silver, Fire Oil, 8 silver 50 copper
135: Elixir of Minor Accuracy, 17 silver

Create 35 Healing Potions (requires 35 Briarthorn, 35 Bruiseweed and 35 Leaded Vials).

Total Minimum Cost: 1 gold 58 silver

Levels 140 - 155

Return to your trainer and become an Expert Alchemist. This will cost 42 silver and 50 copper. Purchase the Elixir of Firepower recipe while you're there for 25 silver 50 copper.

Create 20 Lesser Mana Potions (requires 20 Mageroyal, 20 Stranglekelp and 20 Empty Vials).

Total Minimum Cost: 71 silver 40 copper

Levels 155 - 185

Return to your trainer and purchase the Greater Healing Potion recipe for 42 silver 50 copper. On your way to 185, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

160: Mana Potion, 42 silver 50 copper
165: Lesser Invisibility Potion, 42 silver 50 copper
175: Elixir of Fortitude, 51 silver

Create 35 Greater Healing Potions (requires 35 Liferoot, 35 Kingsblood and 35 Leaded Vials).

Total Minimum Cost: 2 gold 33 silver 50 copper

Levels 185 - 210

Return to your trainer at 185 and purchase the Elixir of Agility recipe for 55 silver 25 copper. On your way to 210, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

195: Elixir of Greater Defense, 63 silver 75 copper
200: Catseye Elixir, 68 silver
205: Greater Mana Potion, 76 silver 50 copper, Oil of Immolation, 68 silver

Create 30 Elixirs of Agility (requires 30 Stranglekelp, 30 Goldthorn and 30 Leaded Vials).

Total Minimum Cost: 3 gold 79 silver 50 copper

Levels 210 - 300

Return to your trainer and become an Artisan Alchemist. This will cost 4 gold and 25 silver. Crystal Vials can be purchased from an Alchemy Supplies vendor for 20 silver each. On your way to 300, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

215: Elixir of Greater Water Breathing, 85 silver, Superior Healing Potion, 85 silver
230: Dreamless Sleep Potion, 85 silver, Elixir of Detect Undead, 42 silver 50 copper

Create 15 Superior Healing Potions (requires 15 Sungrass, 15 Khadgar's Whisker and 15 Crystal Vials).
Create 15 Dreamless Sleep Potions (requires 45 Purple Lotus and 15 Crystal Vials).
Create 20 Elixirs of Greater Agility (requires 20 Goldthorn, 20 Sungrass and 20 Crystal Vials).
Creater 15 Superior Mana Potions (requires 30 Sungrass, 30 Blindweed and 15 Crystal Vials).
Create 30 Major Healing Potions (requires 60 Golden Sansam, 30 Mountain Silversage and 30 Crystal Vials).

Total Minimum Cost: 36 gold 7 silver 75 copper
Total Herbs Needed: 5 Wild Steelbloom, 25 Goldthorn, 65 Sungrass, 15 Khadgar's Whisker, 45 Purple Lotus, 30 Blindweed, 60 Golden Sansam, 30 Mountain Silversage.

Levels 300 - 350

Travel to the Outlands and learn the Alchemiy Master rank from Thrallmar, Shattrath or Honor Hold. This will cost 8 gold and 50 silver and you need to be at least level 50. Imbued Vials can be purchased from the Alchemy Supplies Vendor for 1 gold 60 silver each. Purchase the Adept's Elixir, Onslaught Elixir and Volatile Healing Potion recipes from the Alchemy Trainer for 1 gold 70 silver each. On your way to 350, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

305: Elixir of Major Strength, 2 gold 12 silver 50 copper
310: Elixir of Healing Power, 2 gold 12 silver 50 copper, Elixir of Major Fortitude, 2 gold 12 silver 50 copper, Unstable Mana Potion, 2 gold 12 silver 50 copper.
315: Elixir of Mastery, 2 gold 55 silver,
320: Elixir of Draenic Wisdom, 2 gold 55 silver

Create 15 Elixirs of Healing Power (requires 15 Golden Sansam, 15 Dreaming Glory and 15 Imbued Vials).
Create 10 Mad Alchemist's Potions (requires 20 Ragveil and 10 Crystal Vials).
Create 10 Super Healing Potions (requires 10 Felweed, 20 Netherbloom and 10 Imbued Vials).

Total Minimum Cost: 102 gold 12 silver 50 copper
Total Herbs Needed: 30 Golden Sansam, 25 Felweed, 15 Dreaming Glory, 20 Ragveil, 20 Netherbloom.

Levels 350 - 450

Travel to Northrend and learn the Alchemy Grand Master rank from Warsong Hold, Valgarde, Valiance Keep, Vengeance Landing or Dalaran. This will cost 28 gold and you must be at least level 65. Enchanted Vials can be purchased from the Alchemy Supplies Vendor for 4 gold each. Purchase the Resurgent Healing Potion recipe from the Alchemy Trainer for 3 gold 20 silver. On your way to 450, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Alchemist Trainer:

355: Wrath Elixir, 3 gold 20 silver
360: Icy Mana Potion, 3 gold 20 silver
365: Spellpower Elixir, 3 gold 20 silver

Worst Gold Guide: 20k Leveling Guide

The main focus of the 20k Leveling Guide is to make gold while leveling rapidly, but the information is very basic. It claims to be able to make you 70,000 gold while leveling, but when I read through it, the techniques were nothing special and definitely would not make to you much gold.
