This is a guide on how to level your Enchanting profession from 1 to 450 quickly. At each level, it outlines which enchants you will be able to do, and which materials you will need to do them. Enchanting is the practice of casting permant spells on weapons and armor to improve them. The Enchants you will be able to do will be beneficial for all classes. This profession is best paired with Tailoring, as you can then disenchant the items you tailor in order to gain materials for Enchants. Sadly, even paired with Tailoring, Enchanting is an expensive skill to level. The materials needed can only be found from disenchanting items or the Auction House, and so cannot be easily farmed or gathered like most other materials. However, once you reach the higher levels of the profession, your enchants will be in demand and you can begin to make some gold. All prices in this guide are approximate, they may differ slightly depending on where you buy recipes and your server.

Obviously, you will need to enchant items to level up your Enchanting. You can either enchant the same piece of gear over and over (provided it meets the requirements of the enchant), find someone who needs their item enchanted, or purchase vellum from the Auction House or a Scribe to enchant and then sell on the Auction House.

Levels 1 - 75

To begin your career as an Enchanter, you will need to visit a Enchanting trainer in one of the major cities of Azeroth and become an Apprentice. This will cost 8 copper. You will automatically gain the Runed Copper Rod, Enchant Bracer - Minor Health and Enchant Bracer - Minor Deflection recipes from the trainer upon becoming an Enchanter. Copper Rods can be purchased from an Enchanting Supplies vendor for 1 silver 24 copper each. On your way to 75, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Enchanting Trainer:

10: Lesser Magic Wand, 50 copper
15: Enchant Chest - Minor Health, 50 copper
40: Enchant Chest - Minor Absorption, 1 silver,
45: Enchant Cloak - Minor Resistance, 1 silver
50: Enchant Bracer - Minor Stamina, 2 silver 50 copper
60: Enchant Chest - Lesser Health, 2 silver 50 copper
70: Greater Magic Wand, 2 silver

Create 1 Runed Copper Rod (requires 1 Copper Rod, 1 Strange Dust and 1 Lesser Magic Essence). Enchant 73 bracers with Enchant Bracer - Minor Health (requires 73 Strange Dust).

Total Minimum Cost: 15 silver 82 copper
Total Mats Needed: 74 Strange Dust, 1 Copper Rod, 1 Lesser Magic Essence

Levels 75 - 155

Visit another Enchanting trainer and become a Journeyman. This will cost 4 silver and 25 copper. On your way to 155, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Enchanting Trainer:

90: Enchant Cloak - Minor Protection, 2 silver, Enchant Weapon - Minor Striking, 5 silver

Travel to Sun Rock Retreat in the Stonetalon Mountains to purchase the Enchant Cloak - Minor Agility and Enchant Bracer - Lesser Strength recipes from Kulwia for 2 silver.
Enchant 19 cloaks with Enchant Cloak - Minor Agility (requires 19 Lesser Astral Essence).
Enchant 15 bracers with Enchant Bracer - Lesser Stamina (requires 30 Soul Dust).

Total Minimum Cost: 2 gold 84 silver 70 copper
Total Mats Needed: 10 Lesser Magic Essence, 98 Strange Dust, 19 Greater Magic Essence, 1 Silver Rod, 1 Runed Copper Rod, 19 Lesser Astral Essence, 30 Soul Dust.

Levels 155 - 230

Return to your trainer and become an Expert Enchanter. This will cost 42 silver 50 copper. On your way to 230, you will be able to purchase several recipes from the Enchanting Trainer:

Travel to Nighthaven in Moonglade and purchase the Runed Arcanite Rod recipe from Lorelae Wintersong for 2 gold 20 silver.
Create 1 Runed Arcanite Rod (requires 1 Arcanite Rod, 1 Golden Pearl, 10 Illusion Dust, 4 Greater Eternal Essence, 1 Runed Truesilver Rod and 2 Large Brilliant Shards).
Enchant 9 shields with Enchant Shield - Vitality (requires 9 Greater Eternal Essence and 18 Illusion Dust).

Total Minimum Cost: 33 gold 74 silver
