This is a guide on how to level your Fishing skill from 1 to 450 quickly.

Fishing can be a very useful skill to have, especially whilst levelling, as it saves you buying potions or food to heal yourself. At higher levels, the fish you catch will be in high demand, as it is used for high level Cooking recipes, which are used for raid buffs.

Since patch 3.1, Fishing has become a whole lot easier. You can fish anywhere you like, with no restrictions, and continue to level up! The only catch is (get it?) that you will most likely pick up junk if you are fishing in an area too high for you. It is possible to level up to 450 fishing entirely in Orgrimmar, for example. You also no longer have to do quests and obtain books to rise up the Fishing ranks, you can now learn all ranks, from Apprentice to Grand Master, from Fishing Trainers. Fishing is still a long and painful process, but at least the amount of running around is reduced.

For starters, you'll need a fishing pole, which can be obtained from an Fishing or Trade Supplies vendor very cheaply. There is also a variety of attachments you can equip on your fishing pole to temporarily increase your fishing level, which will help a little.

So, to recap, you can fish anywhere you like, and level all the way up to 450 entirely in the one spot if you so choose. Obviously, the higher level fishing spots will yield better fish, but unless you're combining Fishing with Cooking, that's not too much of a concern. Once you reach 350, you can start doing the fishing dailies in Dalaran, which will earn you some nice rewards as well as helping you level.
