WoW Herbalism Guide

Primary Gathering Profession

This is a guide on how to level your herbalism skill from 1 to 450 quickly. At each level, it outlines which herbs you will be able to gather, and where best to gather them from. If you need info on any of the items or places mentioned in this guide, head over to WoWHead and search for it on the WoW database.

Herbalism is one of the gathering professions of World of Warcraft. Unlike mining and skinning, it does not require a tool, just your own two hands. It is paired well with the alchemy or Inscription professions, although herbs also play a minor role in tailoring and enchanting. Since the introduction of inscription with WoTLK, herbs can fetch quite a bit of gold on the auction house, so some prefer to merely sell the herbs they gather, rather than use them for another profession. Auction sale prices vary from server to server, so check your auction house for the current going rate. All prices in this guide are approximate, they may differ slightly depending on where you buy recipes and your server.

A free add-on that can make your herbalism career easier is Gatherer. This will allow you to track herb locations on your map in more detail. If your chosen class can wear leather, it is recommended you buy Herbalist's Gloves for faster herb levelling when you reach level 22. This also stacks with the Tauren racial cultivation bonus of +15.

Levels 1 - 50

To begin your career as a herbalist, you will need to visit a herbalism trainer in one of the major cities of Azeroth and become an Apprentice. This will cost 10 copper and will give you the skill Find Herbs which will allow you to see herb nodes on your mini-map.

These are commonly found in every starter zone. The best places are:
